Polytetrafluoroethylene is the generic name for the class of materials such as Teflon®. It is not affected by any other chemical reaction i.e. it has greater chemical stability and they can't withstand in high pressure and temperature. In low pressure instead of stainless steel they are used because stainless steel causes adsorption.
